The Year 2004

The Shining Mountains - April 2004

Producer and Director Guy Clarkson, from Banff, Alberta, is nearing completion of a two-year TV documentary, The Shining Mountains. The much anticipated series, shot in High Definition video, will span four broadcast hours, combining history, geography and adventure.

Pat joined the production team as camera operator and roped up with ACMG guides Mark Klassen (
www.ascentguides.com) and Barry Blanchard (bblanch@telusplanet.net), production assistant Bonnie Hamilton and Rodger Debeyer, camera assistant and EMT-A class, on a wintery ascent of Mt. Assiniboine on April 22, ’04.

While Pat shot Barry and Bonnie’s progress up the mountain with a small HD camera, backed up by a tight rope from Rodger, Guy and Mark flew with helicopter pilot Ken Gray close to the summit ridge for some wildly fantastic imagery of one of the Rockies’ classic climbs.

This footage will form an integral part of a limited series for National Geographic, History Television and APTN. Keep an eye on Guy’s website (
www.ravenpro.com) for a broadcast schedule.
